Abu Dhabi Air Expo Set to Take Off on Nov.1

With preparations almost completed for the grand event, Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2022 will be held from November 1 to 3, 2022 at Al Bateen Executive Airport, the only dedicated general and business aviation airport in the Middle East. Being its tenth anniversary adds extra sheen to the forthcoming show.

Air Expo 2022 is a unique platform that brings together general aviation and aerospace industry leaders and seasoned professionals with aviation enthusiasts, customers and students to network, exchange ideas and showcase the latest thinking, technology and equipment in general aviation.

The 80,000 square metre exhibition is expected to attract 20,000 visitors and host more than 300 manufacturers and suppliers.

“The continuation of this event, the tenth in the series, reinforces position of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as a key regional hub for general aviation and of Al Bateen Executive Airport as a catalyst for its ongoing development,” said Shareef Al Hashmi, CEO, Abu Dhabi Airports. “We’re confident it will enable the forward-thinking, networking and business discussions that will power the sector’s growth.”

Latest Innovations
The three-day Air Expo event will feature the latest innovations in private jet aircraft, helicopters, executive charter services, airport equipment and services, avionics systems, insurance and financing.

Over 100 aircraft from ultra-light to heavy business jets will be on display for delegates seeking out a variety of aircraft and aviation-related services.

This year’s event will include a new format that divides the exhibition into three main areas: aircraft hangar, chalets and outdoor static display. It will also feature a conference programme providing industry thought leaders a forum to share the latest thinking on general aviation and aerospace developments.

“We’re working tirelessly to ensure this is a massively successful event on the occasion of its tenth anniversary,” said Didier Mary, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Air Expo. “There is high demand from across the sector and we’re anticipating record numbers. We’re confident the new format, exciting displays and venue will reinforce Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a centre of aviation excellence.”

Conferences at Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2022 will bring together over 80 leading speakers, delegates, thought leaders and industry experts connecting the Middle East (and beyond) aviation & aerospace sector for innovative sessions.

The main topics to be covered will include: The Future of Aviation Developments — airline & airport; the future of business aviation; is the world & aviation ready for the next Pandemic or Crisis?; Africa & growth opportunities; aviation law; sustainability in the aviation ecosystem; impact of industry 4.0 emerging technologies on aviation; cybersecurity & cyber-resilience. The topics will also cover diversity, equity and inclusion in aviation; women in aviation and aviation training.

Women in Aviation
The Expo is set to welcome the Women in Aviation Middle East Chapter. As a non-profit association dedicated to providing opportunities to women striving for careers in the aviation industry, Abu Dhabi Air Expo supports initiatives that encourage women to consider careers in aviation.

Launched in the UAE, the Women in Aviation Middle East Chapter (WAI-ME) brings together women working in all areas of aviation to inspire and encourage others to consider a fulfilling career in aviation. This underscores WAI-ME’s mission to encourage and nurture women to consider and seek opportunities in aviation and aerospace by providing them with information, education, scholarship, internship and comprehensive resources.

“We’re delighted to have Women in Aviation returning to Air Expo. Current and future generations of women can achieve their goals by working in the industry, and the Expo is a great opportunity to introduce them to a wide variety of careers,” said SHK Mohammed Al Mualla, Director of the Organising Committee of Abu Dhabi Air Expo.

Key Sponsor
Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2022 has confirmed that Sanad Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company and a global aerospace engineering and leasing solutions leader with more than three decades of industrial services experience, will champion the UAE capital’s credentials as a global aviation centre of excellence at this year’s Expo.

With more than three decades’ experience in commercial aviation, engine maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) services and aviation leasing, Sanad is a partner of global original engine manufacturers including Rolls-Royce, GE Aviation, and Pratt & Whitney.

During the Expo, Sanad executives will join key panel discussions addressing critical industry topics, including MROs and Air Traffic Management & Airport Security.

“With a name deriving from the Arabic word for support, Sanad supports its industry where and when it matters most,” stated Didier Mary.

Etihad Supports the Show
Etihad Airways has been named the official Airline Sponsor of Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2022. The airline will also support one of the key panel discussions: Making Aviation Green: Sustainability in the Aviation Ecosystem.

As the UAE’s national carrier, Etihad operates to more than 70 passenger and cargo destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. The airline operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft, with the backbone of the fleet being the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Earlier this year, Etihad also introduced the fuel-efficient Airbus A350-1000 to connect with New York, Chicago and London.

DCT Agreement
The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced an agreement to support the Abu Dhabi Air Expo for its next three editions by helping to attract sponsors and participants and providing added marketing value.

The Abu Dhabi Air Expo fits into DCT Abu Dhabi’s strategy to further stimulate the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

Mubarak Al Shamisi, Director of Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB) at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “As destination partners of Abu Dhabi Air Expo, we are proud to support one of the region’s most successful aviation exhibitions through our Advantage Abu Dhabi incentive programme. Advantage Abu Dhabi allows us to expand our portfolio of interested industries and attract market leaders to the emirate, hosting events that drive social and economic development.”

Airport Upgrade
The Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi reopened recently following the completion of a major upgrade project.

The expansion, particularly widening the runway, will allow the airport to handle larger aircraft.

Other works undertaken since the private jet facility closed for all but helicopters on May 11 include a substantial new boundary wall, runway resurfacing, upgraded ground lighting, enhanced signage and landscaping.

Successful Edition
With more than 15,000 visitors, the last edition of the event (Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2018 ) brought together key players in business and general aviation, enabling attendees to discover the industry’s progress and innovations.

One of the highlights of the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Abu Dhabi Airports and San Bernardino International Airport Authority, paving the way for extensive collaboration between Al Bateen Executive Airport with San Bernardino International Airport.

The two airports work together on a variety of aviation industry issues, focusing in particular on maintaining pioneering services during high demand, deployment of latest technologies and sustainability.

In addition, Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2018 saw the unveiling of Gulfstream’s G500 for the first time in the Middle East, and Dassault’s Flacon8X, which attracted potential buyers and operators to the show.

Atlas Aerospace, part of Atlas Group, a UAE based private company specialised in aircraft modifications and upgrades, showcased its flight simulator for the first time using a commercial aircraft software; an Airbus A320.
