UAE’s Top Defence Players to Participate at DSEI 2019

Emirates Defense Companies Council (EDCC) will host top defence service providers from the country in the UAE Pavilion at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) event happening at ExCel Exhibition Centre in London from 10 to 13 September. The pavilion will be featuring a number of member companies specialising in sectors including aerospace, technology, security, and manufacturing.
 
EDCC organises and manages the UAE Pavilion at key industry events, giving members an opportunity to present their companies and services on an international stage. Leading companies such as Al Fattan Ship Industry, Aquila Aerospace, EXECHON, Safe City, Al Hamra Group, Tawazun Industrial Park (TIP), Al Rumaithy Establishment, Halcon Systems, ADASI, Rabdan Academy, Nation Shield journal published by UAE Armed Forces, International Golden Group (IGG) and Tawazun Economic Council’s Economic Development Unit will highlight their services at the event. The pavilion will also host representatives from EDCC’s strategic partners, the UAE’s Ministry of Defense and the GHQ of the UAE Armed Forces.
 
Commenting on the participation, Sultan Abdulla Al Samahi, Acting General Manager of the EDCC said, “As the global defence and security industry continues to witness the growth and changes year on year, events such as DSEI bring the world’s key industry players together. This facilitates dialogue around a broad range of topics including challenges and solutions, and a chance to learn about the latest technologies and solutions. 
 
“The UAE Pavilion also provides our members with the ideal opportunity to showcase and promote their products and services in an international landscape. We look forward to participating in this landmark event, which is entering its 20th edition to date,” he added.
 
Al Fattan Ship Industry: Al Fattan Ship Industry, the leading shipbuilder providing numerous solutions in the military sector, will be presenting their latest boat model during DSEI 2019. The UAE-established and based company is located at Al Sadr Port in Al Taweelah and specialises in shipbuilding and repair. The technology-driven organisation manned by professionals has over 15 years of experience and is active in the building of metal ships, offshore and onshore services, manufacturing, fabrication, repairs, and maintenance of aluminium marine vessels and fibreglass boats. Some of its products include the 15m fast patrol boat, used by the coast guard for interdiction operations, and the 34m patrol boat employed in support of homeland security and search and rescue. Al Fattan Ship Industry has also developed, as a private venture, a 16m catamaran torpedo boat. 
 
Aquila Aerospace CO LLC: Aquila Aerospace will also be participating in the UAE Pavilion at DSEI. Aquila is the first and only Special Mission Aircraft Center in the Gulf, with the ability to offer a wide array of services, equipment, and integration on special mission aircraft variants. Based at Al Bateen airport in Abu Dhabi, Aquila will primarily focus on the integration of special mission aircraft applications. Aquila provides world-class service, indigenous capability complemented by the highest calibre aviation professionals globally, partners and manufacturers sharing a select vision. In addition, Aquila will be a factory authorised Bombardier Service Facility for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
 
Exechon Enterprises L.L.C.: A joint venture between Lockheed Martin, Tecgrant AB, and Abu Dhabi-based Injaz National provides full turnkey solutions in advanced manufacturing. The company will be exhibiting their most advanced Parallel Kinematic Machine (PKM) technology capable of transforming manufacturing processes and adapting to integrated factory workflows, as well as their patented technology and turnkey solutions. The PKM technology offers the stiffness of a machine tool with the dynamic 5-axis capability of an articulated-arm robot, for faster, more accurate assembly and higher overall equipment effectiveness. Its latest development, the XMini, is accurate to 30μ, a step-change improvement over existing aerospace robotic solutions, which are limited in stiffness and speed. Unlike traditional machine tool monuments, the light, carbon fibre XMini can be mounted in any orientation, even upside down, for full 5-axis capability.
 
Safe City Group: Safe City Group brings total turnkey solutions for smart and safe city projects leveraging the latest technologies and ideas to clients worldwide. The group is considered an advanced information centre to raise safety levels using artificial intelligence, as well as security forecasting and crime response. It also has systems for sophisticated monitoring and patrols dispatching, in addition to monitoring expired vehicle licenses, and ensuring traffic safety standards through programmes that constantly analyse traffic data. The group is committed to empowering people of determination.
 
Al Hamra Group: Established in 1982, Abu Dhabi based Al Hamra Group focuses on the supply of military, security equipment, communication, and services to the Armed Forces Law Enforcement, Civil Defence, Customs, and Ministry of Interior. They also represent and deal with several U.S. and European partners. The group will demonstrate their solutions and services in the Aviation Security, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Ports, and Border control at DSEI. 
 
Tawazun Industrial Park: Also participating at the DSEI is Tawazun Industrial Park, a self-contained, world-class industrial zone that was established to help develop the UAE's ambitious defence manufacturing and technology plans. A key member of EDCC, the park offers facility management and infrastructure services for local and international companies operating in the defence and strategic manufacturing sector. The park is already buzzing with a host of home-grown companies including Burkan Munitions Systems, Caracal Light Ammunition (CLA), Nimr Automotive, EDIC Precision Industries, Barij Dynamics, and Caracal International.
 
Al Rumaithy Group: Following the dynamic and prosperous development of the United Arab Emirates, Al Rumaithy Group of Establishments has been working diligently to provide a world-class technology, technical and aviation services in the UAE and abroad. Over the past three decades, Al Rumaithy group of Establishments has developed and transformed itself from a regional group of companies to a global chain of unlimited services. Al Rumaithy Establishment Technical Division provides both commercial and military customers with international equipment and local support. 
 
Nation Shield journal: The official journal of UAE Armed Forces, Nation Shield participates in most of the prominent international events. The journal dwells on the latest military and scientific topics. The bilingual monthly journal is published and distributed through certified agents and private distribution is through military channels and subscription. Established in 1971, it was named ‘Nation Shield’ by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. 
 
Halcon Systems: Owned by the Abu Dhabi-based Yas Holding Group, Halcon Systems will participate in DSEI for the first time under the UAE Pavilion. The company is engaged in the development and manufacture of defence technology and is currently building its production lines under a funding agreement signed in February with the Defence and Security Development Fund of Tawazun Economic Council. Tawazun Economic Council, the state body tasked with developing a UAE defence industry, will potentially provide up to AED 193 million in funding to Halcon. According to media reports, the company plans to develop and manufacture smart missile control and guidance panels over the next three years.
 
Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investments (ADASI): ADASI will highlight a comprehensive range of services covering all types of autonomous systems solutions, starting with joint analysis of end-user needs, through the formalisation of their requirements, to equipment selection and procurement. Based in the UAE, but capable of acting across the SAMENA region, ADASI’s scope includes the acquisition, development, test, operation, training and full-service support of autonomous systems for air, land and sea use. This includes modification and reconfiguration of unmanned systems, in particular identifying and integrating alternative payloads. 
 
Rabdan Academy: The first and unique academy in the UAE to provide opportunities for learning in a dual-sector structure, Rabdan Academy is looking forward to the event as an ideal platform to share expertise in the multi-disciplinary learning environment. The academy is the best choice for the continuing development and integration of safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness, and crisis management (SSDEC) professionals. The Academy adopts best international standards for the design and delivery of training and educational programmes and specialised scientific research in SSDEC Domains, with a view to providing a unified, coordinated, and sustainable approach to enhance the readiness and resilience of individuals and organisations in the United Arab Emirates.
 
International Golden Group (IGG): Recognised as a leading supplier to the UAE Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, and other defence and security authorities, IGG is getting ready to display its high-end products and services to the DSEI visitors. The company offers over 100 product lines from leaders in the defence and security sector. The largest supplier of the UAE Armed Forces plans to become a pioneer manufacturer of cutting-edge technology and defence systems.
 
EDCC was born as an initiative of  Tawazun, the Ministry of Defence, and the UAE Armed Forces. It provides a platform that enables dialogue among key local and international defence industry players by facilitating effective networking and partnership opportunities, and promoting UAE business aboard through the UAE Defence Pavilion. There are currently 63 members, including EDIC, Mubadala and other private sector companies.
