APT: Igniting Solutions for a Safer Future

Almost a quarter of the world’s countries witnessed a surge in protest and unrest last year, and that figure is set to rise further to 40 per cent in 2020, according to a new study by socio-economic and political analysis firm Verisk Maplecroft. With civil unrest and social inequality on the rise, law enforcement and police officers are required to fulfill a variety of complex missions ranging from crowd control to humanitarian relief. Non-lethal technologies can play a critical role to limit the escalation of conflict where employment of lethal force is prohibited or undesirable, where rules of engagement require minimum casualties, or where policy restricts the use of conventional force.

APT produces high-performance pyrotechnics and non-lethal ammunition in its advanced manufacturing facility in Tawazun Industrial Park (TIP) in Abu Dhabi and is the leading and only manufacturer of Non-Lethal Technologies in the region. Part of the Missiles & Weapons cluster of EDGE, APT’s military-grade testing and manufacturing process is driven by a deep understanding of the environments and scenarios where these tactical assets are needed the most.

One of APT’s tactical assets are hand grenades. Guided by German innovation, the company has adopted highest military standards and specifications in accordance with international regulations for the manufacturing of these non-lethal technologies. Designed specifically for use by military, Special Forces, and rescue teams, APT’s range of hand grenades include coloured smoke (red, green, blue, yellow, white), irritants (CS) and flash-bang grenades.

The burning time of coloured smoke and screening grenades ranges from 40 to 120 seconds. The military uses smoke grenades in dangerous situations to provide cover for people and tanks on the move. APT’s grenades are made of organic dyes and are completely environmentally-friendly and water resistant. Utmost attention is also paid in packaging, delivering the products in seamless aluminium cans, ensuring longer shelf life and protection from humidity and corrosion.

APT also produces 37/40mm cartridges; colour smoke, CS or rubber balls. These cartridges allow officers to reach a range of 120m. The internal compositions react flawlessly under varying weather conditions, from dry and cold to hot and humid, ensuring performance wherever the products are used. Composed of hazard-free substances, APT’s products have proven to have no health impact on personnel. Certain characteristics like density of the emissions, burning duration of the smoke cloud and sound/light intensity, are fully customisable.

With performance and quality at its core, APT consistently aims to produce high-grade pyrotechnic technologies with an ultimate mission of saving lives. Established in 2016, APT has grown to become the premiere tactical defence entity in the region, that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies can depend on for successful accomplishment of critical missions.
