EDGE to Showcase Smart Weapons, UAVs at Egypt Airshow
EDGE Group, one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defence groups, is set to make a significant impact at the inaugural Egypt International Airshow.
The event, serving as a gateway to aerospace in Africa and the Middle East, is being held at the El Alamein International Airport in El Dabaa, Matrouh, Egypt, from September 3 to 5.
The EDGE Group will showcase its dynamic line of smart weapons, including advanced guided-glide weapons, precision-guided munitions, and advanced air defence missiles.
UAVs for Security
The group will showcase a range of multirole unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) tailored to meeting the region’s unique security and operational requirements.
In the smart weapons domain, it will display the Desert Sting family of guided-glide weapons, the Thunder and Rash lines of cost-effective precision-guided munitions, the Al Tariq range of modular, all-weather, day/night precision-guided munitions, and the Skyknight inner-layer air defence missile system.
The EDGE Group will also display the QX series of quadcopter loitering munitions and the Shadow family of rapid-strike loitering munitions.
Under the autonomous systems domain, it will display the Reach-S multirole medium-altitude, long-endurance UAV, and the Garmoosha light unmanned rotary-wing aircraft.
Versatile Lineup
The Desert Sting is a family of light weight, air platform released, precision guided, glide weapons. It utilises inertial guidance augmented by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) information (GAINS). A Semi-Active Laser seeker configuration (with or without GNSS) improves accuracy performance against designated targets.
The Thunder is a family of cost-effective, short-range, guidance kit that can be fitted to the MK-82 (P-32) and the MK-81 (P-31) general purpose aerial munitions.
Al Tariq is a cost-effective, modular family of Precision Guided Munitions designed for the MK 81/82/83 series aerial bombs. It is an advanced tactical solution with all-weather, day or night operational capability providing the user with a long range, high accuracy solution.
The Skynex SkyKnight air defence system provides rapidly deployable, comprehensive inner-layer protection against a variety of asymmetric and conventional threats, including rockets, artillery shells, mortars (RAM), ballistic bombs and stand-off weapons.
Garmoosha is a Light Unmanned Aircraft or drone with surveillance capabilities. It is designed to carry payloads of approximately 120 KG with an endurance of eight hours and 150 KM range.
QX-2 Mini-UAV Quadcopter Loitering Munitions provide infantry and special forces with a portable drone capable of carrying and delivering a precision-guided weapon or deploying in kamikaze configuration.
