Indonesia’s PT SSE Opts for Texelis’ Celeris 4x4

Texelis recently announced that it has been selected to provide Indonesian vehicle designer and manufacturer PT SSE with complete kits for its Celeris 4x4 mobility solution. The company will also offer a complete development and support package to customise the mobility solution for PT SSE’s needs.

PT SSE, or PT Sentra Surya Ekajaya, is a company specialising in designing, engineering and manufacturing Special Mission Vehicles. It offers a complete range of vehicles, currently focused on the 4x4 range, as well as corresponding services.

The partnership between Texelis and PT SSE is also a major success for French-Indonesian relations. Both countries have been close partners for defence for years and are actively working to reinforce their ties. The programme is also fully supported by the French and Indonesian authorities, including the French Defense Mission at the French Embassy in Jakarta.

The GICAT (Groupement des Industries Françaises de Défense et de Sécurité terrestres et aéroterrestres – the French Land Defense and Security Industry Association) has also been a major support, both in France and in Indonesia.

Key Features
The new partnership for Celeris provides a high-performance, qualified, adaptable, turnkey solution for land mobility and for companies to develop or enhance their range of vehicles.

The Celeris 4×4 features 12 base kits, such as axles, powerpack, or steering, and over 30 optional kits for customisation based on the intended use and required performance. Capable of supporting both self-supporting and ladder-frame vehicles, Celeris 4×4 facilitates a broad spectrum of vehicle architectures. Weighing approximately 4.5 tonnes, including tyres, it is designed for vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranging from 13 to 18 tonnes.

On top of the inherent quality of the kits and the level of support offered throughout the development and qualification phase, Celeris reportedly provides a faster process than any other solution.

Under this partnership agreement, Texelis will deliver the first kits to PT SSE in S1 2024. With Texelis’ full support, integration is to be completed on the first prototype before the end of the year. Deliveries of the remaining series of kits will then take place in 2025.

Under the Celeris programme, an experienced OEM can thus produce a new prototype of an entirely new vehicle in less than a year. Qualification can then start with the full support of Texelis, which may set the full programme target at 18 months from order.

The new contract will also allow Texelis and PT SSE to grow together as a supplier of mobility and a complete systems integrator and learn from that experience to implement new partnership initiatives throughout the programme. Celeris will also benefit from the feedback and experience from its users in Indonesia and evolve during its whole life cycle to constantly adapt to the users’ requirements and operational missions.

Mobility Expert
Texelis assists during the development and trial process, then hands over the tools, settings, spares and support system, making the OEM fully autonomous with their vehicle.

The company believes in partnerships as the right way to combine the right competence. It has already scored customers for Celeris on two different continents, with several dozen solutions ordered, and is looking forward to expanding its reach worldwide.

Texelis is a leader in the design and manufacture of axles, drivelines and complete mobility solutions for 4×4, 6x6 and 8×8 military vehicles. In 2018, the DGA entrusted the development and implementation contract for Light VBMR to Nexter and Texelis. The Light VBMR fulfils the light vehicle component of France’s “SCORPION” programme. Texelis is responsible for delivering the full vehicle driveline for integration with the systems produced by Nexter for Serval.

This solution has been designed to maximise mobility for the demanding and restrictive environment in which the French Army’s vehicle fleet operates in today’s battlefield, delivering advanced protection and enhanced strategic and tactical mobility.

Texelis supports manufacturers and operators throughout the product lifecycle, from initial design to renewal. The company pays special attention to technicality, robustness, and adaptability to meet the end-users’ needs and requirements.
