Germany Selects Boeing’s CH-47F Chinook

The German Government recently announced that Boeing’s CH-47F Chinook had been selected for its heavy-lift helicopter requirements (STH) for the German Bundeswehr.

An official company statement said: “Boeing is honoured the German government has selected the CH-47F Chinook for its STH heavy-lift helicopter requirements. With the Chinook, Germany will operate the most affordable, proven and NATO interoperable heavy-lift helicopter.

We look forward to working with the U.S. and German governments to finalise this sale under the Foreign Military Sales process. Together with our Chinook Deutschland Team, AERO-Bildung, Airbus Helicopters, CAE, ESG, Honeywell, Lufthansa Technik and Rolls-Royce Deutschland, we are committed to delivering maximum operational availability to the German Bundeswehr for decades to come.”

Boeing’s CH-47 Chinook Block II is powered by cutting-edge technologies, redesigned fuel tanks, a strengthened fuselage, and an improved drivetrain, all of which enable soldiers to meet tomorrow’s heavy-lift mission requirements and position the Chinook for additional future upgrades.

Flying faster, farther and smarter, Block II improves readiness for the U.S. Army and Special Operations warfighters, limits future sustainment costs and provides commonality across the fleet to ensure that the Chinook fleet will be available for decades to come.
