DIMDEX 2024 to Chart Course for Safe Waters

The eighth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2024) is prepped to anchor at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) from March 4 to 6, and the buzz is already deafening. 

The event is rapidly generating a tidal wave of excitement, with exhibitors and participants from across the globe eager to be part of this ground-breaking experience. 
 
Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, DIMDEX 2024 is hosted and organised by the Qatar Armed Forces and will be organised under the theme: “Igniting the future of maritime security and beyond.”
 
The mega event is expanding its horizons by incorporating critical defence categories that bolster the safety and security of the maritime ecosystem. Thought leaders will seize the opportunity to delve into the latest developments reshaping the domain.
 
Since its inception in 2008, DIMDEX has witnessed continuous growth to become a staple event in the international maritime defence and security industry calendar. 
 
Strategic Forum
In addition to the main exhibition, DIMDEX will host the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC), a highlight that attracts key leaders from around the world to discuss the latest trends, challenges and solutions in maritime defence and security. 
 
MENC will be taking the helm on March 5, the second day of the maritime extravaganza. This thought-provoking event is open to the public for free, but don’t just show up on deck unannounced. Pre-registration is your passport to this exclusive gathering of minds. 
 
MENC was first launched at the exhibition in 2008 and has since grown into a fixture of the event’s programme.
 
The exhibition will also feature the popular visiting warship display at Hamad Port, which will provide attendees an opportunity to explore modern naval warships. It will spotlight emerging technologies that include cybersecurity software, anti-piracy systems, artificial intelligence (AI), C5ISR systems and unmanned systems.
 
Global Cohesion
Staff Lieutenant General (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Mohammed bin Aqeel Al Nabit, Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces, said: “Qatar continues to enhance its defence capabilities and foster international strategic partnerships. In this context, DIMDEX contributes to the country’s National Vision 2030 and sustains the continued security and prosperity of the nation.

DIMDEX brings together key military and industry leaders from around the world to tackle the current challenges and threats, and explore the framework and solutions that enhance international maritime security and beyond. By hosting this international event, Qatar remains at the forefront of defence innovation and international cooperation in the pursuit of maritime security.”
 
Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari, Chairman of DIMDEX, stated: “DIMDEX promises to host another successful and productive edition that will address the challenges and threats faced today. Over the years, it has emerged as a prominent platform that showcases the latest defence innovations, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, which have all proven critical to the success of today’s defence missions.”
 
The event reflects on Qatar’s commitment to showcase the latest innovations, serving as a hub where exhibitors present solutions to current challenges and future needs within the maritime defence and security domain. The show also exemplifies the country’s dedication to fostering long-term partnerships and unlocking commercial opportunities, while helping in accelerating Doha’s economic growth through attracting thousands of participants and visitors.
 
Rapid Expansion Curve
The only specialised maritime defence exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, it has grown exponentially since the inaugural edition in 2008.

The biennial event not only delivers a platform for military collaboration and two-way partnerships in the defence and security sector, but also knowledge exchange at the highest levels between industry and government. 
 
As many as 32 contracts and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the previous edition in which more than 200 companies from 20 countries showcased the latest in maritime defence and security. 
 
Agreements worth over US$33 billion have been signed since the inaugural edition. 
 
Commercial Opportunities
Exhibitors from around the globe can showcase their technologies and products to high-ranking industry personnel. Each event edition offers wide-ranging commercial opportunities in the form of Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) and live agreements that are concluded during the three-day event.
 
The comprehensive Delegate Management System (DMS) provides exhibitors an integrated networking solution to streamline access to key stakeholders and VIP delegates throughout the event days.
 
Exhibitors can use the system to request appointments with senior representatives from government departments, official VIP delegations, and senior representatives from international organisations.
