Egypt’s Military Expertise to Shine at EDEX 2023

Egypt is set to host a grand showcase of military innovation and prowess as the much-anticipated third edition of the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) kicks off from December 4 to 7, 2023. The Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) will transform into a global hub, welcoming over 400 exhibitors from 46 countries.

 
High-level military delegations from more than 100 countries have been invited, and 35,000 visitors are expected to attend the exhibition over four days. 
 
Visitors can expect to witness a captivating display of the latest advancements in air, land, and sea military technologies, as well as forge valuable connections with key industry players from around the world.
 
The event is being held under the patronage of the President of Egypt’s Arab Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. It will welcome a number of officials and military delegations who have confirmed their attendance to witness the latest defence technology and systems, whilst enabling them to exchange ideas and build invaluable relationships between key players in the industry. 
 
22 Country Pavilions 
EDEX 2023 will include 22 country pavilions from Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Ukraine, UAE, and the United States.
 
Spearheaded by Arabian Word Events (AWE), a renowned organiser of acclaimed international events, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Military Production, and the Arab Organization for Industrialisation, EDEX stands as the sole defence and security event encompassing Africa and the Middle East, holding the distinction of being Africa’s largest defence exhibition.
 
The show presents an exclusive opportunity for attendees to witness the forefront of military technology, equipment, defence systems, and military products. 
At the Egyptian Pavilion, visitors will experience firsthand the cutting-edge capabilities of the Ministry of Military Production, unveiling both present achievements and future prospects.
 
EDEX is poised to showcase an array of leading companies spanning the entire spectrum of defence and security, encompassing land vehicles, air defence, coastal defence, shipbuilding, maintenance and repair, cybersecurity, missile systems, unmanned and autonomous systems, parachuting and airdrop, satellite communication, search and rescue, surveillance systems, tactical equipment, training and simulation equipment, and much more. 
 
The show has secured high-level industry sponsors including a some of the world’s most reputable military equipment manufacturers namely: Amstone, Dassault Aviation, Hanwha, MBDA, ALIT, Lockheed Martin, Naval Group, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Esri, NAS and Leonardo DRS.
 
Thematic Showcases 
The 12 thematic pavilions at EDEX 2023 will showcase a wide range of defence and security systems and technologies, including land-based systems (tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery), naval systems (ships, submarines, and missiles), air systems (fighter jets, bombers, and helicopters), weapons and ammunition, security and surveillance systems (radars, cameras, and drones), training and simulation systems (simulators and virtual reality systems), homeland security systems (border security systems and counter-terrorism systems), unmanned systems (drones and robots), missiles and rockets, cyber security systems, military medical systems (field hospitals and medical supplies), and space systems (satellites and rockets).
 
The thematic areas will provide a unique opportunity for defence and security professionals to learn about the latest trends and developments in the industry, and to network with potential partners.
 
The conference programme is expected to feature keynote speakers from government, industry, and academia. 
 
The topics will include the future of warfare, the impact of technology on the defence industry, the role of women in defence, countering terrorism, cyber security, and disaster relief.
 
Growing Momentum 
Over its past editions, the event gained growing momentum with the participation of nearly 400 exhibitors from 42 countries in 2021, a notable increase from 376 exhibitors from 41 countries in 2018. 
 
Also, EDEX 2021 saw the attendance of 78 official VIP delegations from 54 countries, and more than 30,000 visitors.
 
Egypt has 1.2 million military personnel and is the largest military power in Africa and one of the leading forces worldwide.

The country is the ideal setting for such a large-scale defence and security event. In addition, Egypt has historically maintained continuous investment in the latest armaments as a defence strategy and has strengthened national production lines across a range of military complexes.
