Mohammed bin Rashid Honours Saif bin Zayed at World Government Summit 2022
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, honoured H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to making Expo 2020 Dubai a success, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2022.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council; and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, attended the honouring ceremony.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the efforts of Lt. General Sheikh Saif and his strong contributions to the success of events organised in the country reflect his dedication to serving the nation and represent a great example to follow.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed his pride in the exceptional success of Expo 2020 Dubai, which reflects the civilisation, growth, and development of the UAE. The honour recognises the contributions and unlimited support of Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan in presenting a remarkable edition of the global event.
WGS2022 reflected the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the futuristic vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The two-day event convened more than 4,000 guests and participants who gathered from over 190 countries, including heads of state, government leaders in fields from healthcare, finance and climate change to energy and youth affairs and engaged in more than 110 impactful plenaries, dialogues and panel sessions aimed at tackling the greatest human challenges today.
Hosted this year at Expo 2020 Dubai, WGS2022 was a great culmination of the global event, which brought together the world’s nations on the quest of creating a better tomorrow, said Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Government Summit Organisation.
Looking ahead, Al Gergawi added that the next edition of the World Government Summit will raise the bar once more. “Becoming a platform that shapes the future of governments by convening heads of state will advance the pursuit of a new era of agile and collaborative governance which works to improve the lives of all global citizens,” he said.
“The World Government Summit over the past decade provided models that ensure a hopeful future for governments and the people they serve,” Al Gergawi continued. “Each year, we challenge ourselves to exceed the success of the previous edition. The UAE has shown that nothing is impossible, and we take this mindset forwards into the next edition of the Summit in the name of progress and prosperity for all.”
At the Summit, EDGE launched the first major phase of its cutting-edge Learning & Innovation Factory (LIF), a pioneering Industry 4.0 ‘one-stop hub’ providing an inspiring and immersive environment for learning, innovation, and operational excellence - empowering talent with key skillsets and capabilities across multiple spheres of advanced technology.
EDGE, which is the region’s leading advanced technology group, brought attention to its strategy of developing UAE’s sovereign capabilities and the importance it is placing on the training and upskilling of its talent. LIF will embody Industry 4.0 technologies to support digital transformation and business excellence.
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, Al Gergawi announced that the 2023 edition of the World Government Summit (WGS2023) will be held from 13th to 15th February 2023.
