‏Rabdan Academy

‏Rabdan Academy is a world class, professional education institution. Rabdan’s mission is to train and educate safety, security, defence and emergency professionals across all sectors to meet the challenges and threats faced worldwide by nations and communities.

The Assessment Centre of the Academy looks at a learner’s education and training history, acknowledges prior learning and work experiences, and gives course credit for students who hold existing knowledge or experience. Prior learning is recognized and contributes to the achievement of higher level qualifications. 
 
‏In an exclusive talk with Dr. Faisal Obaid Al Ayyan, Executive Vice President of the Academy about the objectives, features and role of the academy, as well as training and educational programs in the fields of safety, security, defence, crisis managements, preparedness for emergency cases, encouragement of scientific research and commitment to continuous development.
 
‏The Academy’s Objectives
‏Dr. Faisal pointed out that the main objectives of the academy are to provide world class and benchmarked individual, organizational and integrated safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness and crisis management education, training and career guidance/ planning applicable to the local environment and requirements.; to provide state-of-the-art facilities and systems which offer a safe and secure environment for the protection of personnel, facilities, equipment and information.
 
‏Advantages of Rabdan Academy
‏In another question about the advantages that are unique to the academy, Dr. Faisal answered that the academy has pioneered a new approach in education and training based on full integration between the various competent organs. It also seeks to support the efforts of integration and coordination in the field of training and education, and to create a common language and coherent environment to achieve compatibility between the competent bodies in the areas of joint operations.

The Academy seeks to be the leader in the field of cooperativetraining and education, recognizing that the integration and coordination of education and training opportunities, capabilities and standards in an ideal interrelated training environment, meet the best international standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of the capabilities of human resources that are responsible for protecting nation.
 
‏Curricula and Training Courses
‏Building a highly professional and confident generation of UAE nationals is central to the mission of the Academy. The Assessment Centre of the Academy looks at a learner’s education and training history, acknowledges their prior learning and work experiences, and gives course credit for students who hold existing knowledge or experience. Prior learning is recognized and contributes to the achievement of higher level qualifications. 
 
Programs are designed to fast-track high achieving individuals to allow a more rapid progression through their professional careers. Flexible course design creates multiple entry and exit points for students.
 
‏Academic Research 
‏The Executive Vice President of the Academy indicated that they are keen to supportand encourage scientific research, and that the Academy is committed to continuous improvement, which would in turn enhance the reputation and international standing of the Academy, to provide training and education in a leading way. The Academy takes up a leading role in building the necessary expertise and attracting experts from various countries around the world.
 
‏Educational Programs
‏Rabdan Academy’s educational programs are fully accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Accreditation is important for our students as course credits are recognized within the UAE and internationally, and also transferable between programs and institutions.

This gives our students flexibility to adjust their learning plans to match their changing needs and professional operational requirements. The Academy is also working on the development of new training programs to meet the needs of military and security institutions, and requests for approval of such programs have been submitted to the competent authorities in the state and are awaiting approval in the near future.
 
‏Strategic Partnerships
‏He also pointed out that the Academy works collaboratively with a range of government and industry representatives to ensure our programs meet current industry needs today and in the future. The academy is building strategic partnerships with prestigious international organizations and to keep up with developments in various areas of interest to the academy.These companies will seek to exchange information, reduce the expenses incurred on the training and education of a large group of teams, and conduct research and joint activities, establish student exchange programs and exchange programs, enhance researchcapabilities, and help to generate additional income for the Academy.
 
‏A National Cadre
‏The executive vice president went on to say that academy will try to provide the state with a highly-qualified national cadre in the fields of safety, defense, emergency preparedness, and crisis management. This can only be achieved through a cadre capable of taking collective, sustainable, coherent and deterrent preventive action. 
 
‏High standards 
‏Al-Ayyan emphasized that the United Arab Emirates has outstanding capacities in various fields, but the threats do not stop at a certain limit;they aregrowing more complicated and serious day after day.Thus countries should seek to develop new standards for education, training, coordination and research so as to be able to respond in a timely manner to all the developments, threats and risks. So RabdanAcademy will take upon itself to develop a special education and training curriculum thataims to promote the integration of all state institutions cooperatively and collectively. 
 
‏Training and Education Cooperative  
‏On a question about training and cooperative education, Dr. Faisal Al-Ayyan stressed that the Academy takes it upon itself to be the leader in the field of cooperativetraining and education, recognizing that the integration and coordination of education and training opportunities, capabilities and standards in aninterrelated and ideal training environment will help to improve the capabilities of human resources.
 
‏Maintaining stability in the face of a crisis requires the joint effort of a number of entities. We work collaboratively with the leading safety, security, defence and emergency response organisations to ensure programs are relevant to current industry needs.
 
‏Armed Forces and Rabdan
‏Dr. Faisal spoke about cooperation between the Armed Forces and the RabdanAcademy and emphasized that the General Command of the Armed Forces has signed an agreement with the Academy during the nternational Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR)2013, which includes cooperation, training, education and development of human capacity. 
 
‏Vocational Empowerment
‏Dr. Faisal indicated that the Academy will strive to provide and coordinate training and educational programs to suit all levels, from short courses to program that ends in granting accredited academic degrees are supported. He pointed out that students or employeescan choose to specialize in certain areas, or attend more courses so that he can get recognized qualifications. This gives our students flexibility to adjust their learning plans to match their changing needs and professional operational requirements. 
 
‏Best International Standards 
‏The Academy focuses on cross‐service disciplines and multi‐agency training with the emphasis on security, safety, defence, emergency preparedness and crisis management. We also enable and provide opportunities for further qualifications, enhancing the capabilities of individual and providing further career opportunities for professionals working in the sector. Through integrating and co‐ordinating education, training capabilities and standards in a cohesive and world‐class environment operating under a common doctrine, the Academy will transform the Executive vision into an Academy of choice worldwide .
