ADIHEX 2023: New Falcon Auction to Spring Surprises

The Emirates Falconers’ Club is gearing up to launch a special auction filled with surprises and novel improvements in the world of falcon auctions and beauty contests, following the overwhelming success of the Falcon Auction during ADIHEX 2022.

History was made during that edition with the acquisition of the priciest falcon ever — the American falcon (Pure Gear — Ultra White) — sold for over AED 1,000,000 (approximately US$ 275,000).

The Captive-bred Falcon Auction is a top draw for falconers and enthusiasts, offering a major chance for premier breeding farms to showcase prime falcon species.

20th Edition
The 20th edition of ADIHEX will be held under the theme “Sustainability and Heritage… A Reborn Aspiration” from September 2 to 8, with the official sponsorship of the Environment Agency — Abu Dhabi, the International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC), and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) where the event is set to take place.

The gold sponsor is the German company SCHIWY, while the sector sponsor is Caracal International LLC.

Alongside the official automotive partner ARB Emirates and banking partner Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, there’s the activity partner Al-Forsan International Sports Resort. The Arena sponsor is Smart Design, and the feature sponsor is the Royal Tent.

The upcoming Falcon Auction at ADIHEX 2023 aligns with the appearance of the Suhail star, marking the transition from summer to the preparations for the new falconry season 2023-2024, including tournaments and competitions.

Bids will be available for top local production falcons, winners of the Most Beautiful Captive-Bred Falcons Contest (on September 2 at 7:30 pm), falcons from various exhibitors, and exceptional rare falcon selections.

The falcons presented at the event witnessed a remarkable development in the quality and types of birds, as the exhibition includes a large group of hunting and competition falcons, which have proven their efficiency and distinctive capabilities.

Six Categories
The auction encompasses six categories for both local and international productions: Pure Gyr from international farms outside the UAE, (Pure Gyr male) from international farms outside the UAE, (Pure Saker) from international farms outside the UAE, as well as Pure Gyr from local farms within the UAE, (Pure Gyr male) from local farms within the UAE, and (Pure Saker) from local farms within the UAE.

The 2023 auction will be witnessing new features including the falcon daily raffle draws offered by Umm Jeniba Farm to the auction’s audience, and raffle draws to the participants “the Bidders.”

The auction will also be broadcast live on ADIHEX social media platforms and website.

For participation in the auctions, falcon farm owners must meet certain requirements: official registration at ADIHEX, submitting approved falcons to the committee in advance, possessing necessary health certificates, and adhering to auction regulations.

The falcon auction targets UAE and global captive-bred falcon breeders, auction organisers, traders, local and Gulf falconers, VIPs, business figures, UAE residents, and tourists.
It seeks to support and encourage the owners of the falcon farms to sell, buy, and produce the finest falcons bred in captivity.

Hadi Al Mansoori, the founder of Al Thumama Bird Auctions Company in Abu Dhabi about 12 years ago, through importing and breeding falcons by crossbreeding them with local breeds, said that he now owns various breeds of all types of falcons that are currently in demand such as Pure Saker, Pure Gyr, Pure Gyr male, Peregrine, Gyr Peregrine, Gyr Peregrine male, Gyr Saker male.

The event’s next edition garners support from Ministry of Interior, Abu Dhabi Police, Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee, Emirates Heritage Club, and more. Industry partners feature International Association for Falconry, European Foundation for Falconry, and others. Visitor experience partners include Mohamed bin Zayed Falconry & Desert Physiognomy School and Arabian Saluki Centre.

Prominent Sectors
The exhibition features prominent local and international companies offering camping, beach, and adventure gear, alongside the burgeoning industry of 4x4 vehicles and mobile caravans.
The sectors of “Hunting and Camping Equipment,” “Hunting Tourism and Safari,” and “Outdoor Leisure Vehicles and Equipment” are highly anticipated by visitors each year.

The event draws numerous camping and off-road enthusiasts eager to explore products and gather essential supplies for unforgettable journeys. They aim for unique adventures, the thrill of hunting and camping, and a deep immersion in nature.

Direct Sales
Exhibitors offer vital supplies for outdoor adventures, offering direct sales to trip enthusiasts including tents, sleeping bags, jackets, cooking utensils, portable furniture, hunting and safari vehicles, equipment, and accessories.
The exhibition showcases modern camping trailers, sleeping vehicles, caravans, off-road gear, and sports equipment.

ADIHEX’s organising committee focuses on exhibitor support, providing facilities, marketing packages, and services to enhance its role as a high-purchasing event. In the last edition, exhibitors thrived by engaging customers, meeting buyers, leaders, and experts, and forging partnerships with local agents for effective product marketing.

The event facilitated deals for outdoor leisure vehicle companies, allowing immediate onsite design and manufacturing agreements for “caravans.”

Manufacturing officials confirmed the exhibition’s attraction for caravan enthusiasts, offering competitive prices 15-20 per cent below the market. Deals were secured for personalised caravan design and supply, focusing on blending heritage and modernity for exceptional accommodation and outdoor experiences.

Caravan prices for off-road trips differ based on size, rooms, amenities, communication, electronics, solar energy, and satellite reception. Options include top-notch cooling, lighting, toilets, insulation, and luxury features.

Happy Participants
Al-Botros Company, a regular participant, specialises in trading vehicle and trailer spare parts. Established in 2005, it has formed partnerships with factories, including the Capital Trailers Company, building trust despite market challenges.

Nasrat Diya Younis, General Manager of Desert Stars Factory under Najm Al-Sahara Company, focuses on trading, manufacturing, and outfitting travel and camping caravans. ADIHEX enabled custom caravan supply deals by spotlighting the company’s distinct models for the public.

Ali Al-Humairi, owner of “Baskent Caravan,” a Turkish brand, highlighted their debut participation. Despite being their first time, they secured deals suitable for different terrains, thanks to the exhibition’s customers.

The company offered affordable, compact, easy-tow caravans for all camping enthusiasts. It also highlighted the ease of finding parking spaces for these caravans without occupying a large area.

A representative from the Turkish company Basket Caravan stated that their presence at the exhibition is a highly anticipated annual event. They eagerly await it for the substantial benefits it brings, including increased sales, product exposure, industry introductions, and the attraction of fresh customers and business collaborations.
