Saab's Continued Commitment to the UAE's Defence Vision

By: Heléne Bittmann, Managing Director, Saab in the UAE

As the United Arab Emirates marks its 48th anniversary of its Armed Forces Unification Day, Saab would like to congratulate the UAE leadership and people as they celebrate this milestone. We commend the great achievements made over the past decades, which reflect the UAE’s strategic vision and commitment to excellence in its defence and security sector.

Saab’s history of collaboration with the UAE government and institutions dates back to the 1980s, where since then, we have established a deep-rooted partnership dedicated to strengthening the local defence and security industry. Our operations in the UAE are highlighted by key milestones such as the establishment of Saab Ltd, our development and production facility at Tawazun Industrial Park, affirming our commitment to the UAE’s strategic objectives and enhancing local defence capabilities.

We continue to advance cutting-edge products like DeployNet, a locally developed solution designed to meet the demands of modern military and crisis operations and take pride in our contribution to enhancing the local supply chain, offering solutions that address evolving security challenges. With offerings ranging from naval command and control systems to advanced airborne surveillance solutions like GlobalEye, we have established a strong presence in the region.

Additionally, our pioneering solutions, such as the Giraffe family of radars and Air Traffic Management systems, continue to capture the interest of industry stakeholders, demonstrating our expertise in global defence technologies.

Our aim is to develop the local ecosystem through investments in research and development and the cultivation of Emirati talent. Saab is proud to contribute to the growth of over 150 dedicated employees in the UAE, a number we plan to continue expanding as we implement our strategies aimed at Emiratisation.

Our operations in TIP are aligned with the national priorities of the UAE, emphasising the creation of high-tech job opportunities for nationals, and fostering a skilled workforce capable of steering the future of the UAE's defence industry. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to support the UAE’s vision for a defence and security industry that is recognised globally.

As we celebrate this Unification Day, Saab reaffirms its dedication to the UAE. We are committed to delivering world-class defence and security solutions that support the safety and security of the Nation. Our partnership with the UAE is built on a shared vision of innovation, excellence, and strategic growth. We look forward to continuing this journey, contributing to the UAE's prosperity and security for many years to come.
