Al Marakeb innovates with radio, satellite and 4G in their 100 per cent UAE made vessels

Al Marakeb is the proud integrator and developer of a 100 per cent UAE made technology and exhibits their B7x and B10 vessels at UMEX. The company also produces the B7 vessel. Their applications allow transforming any vessel into an unmanned sea vehicle piloted from ground, a solution that serve for both civilian and military use. They can be used in surveillance, interception, target boat and mine sweeping missions. Mubarak Al Ali, director of Business Development, explains to Nation Shield some developments shown at their second participation at UMEX: “We are happy because it is a great opportunity for Al Marakeb and this year is even bigger
than before.”
Al Marakeb was established in 2009 and their first successful test happened in 2014. In the last four years, the company experienced high demand due to the versatility of their vessels to include extra sensors and be able to perform in different environments: “Since 2014 a lot of countries are interested in our products, especially from the GCC and MENA region. Our system can take any kind of sensor and use on the open sea, shallow water, or other areas,” he explains. Their competitive advantage is based on their enabling three ways of communications, which includes Internet signal: “Our boats use radio, satellite, and 4G, which is something very advanced.”
Adnane El Soussi, director of Robotics at MAP Systems, shows how to control the vessel with a joystick and monitor the data and diagnostics coming from the platform: “We can design the route by clicking in waypoints or specify the latitude and longitude, set up the speed, and upload it to the autopilot for autonomously drive the vessel.” Their equipment permits 360 degrees awareness to pilots and it is complemented by stabilizer and infrared cameras.
“The entire system, from the vessel to the navigation system is developed by us in Sharjah,” he says. What sets Al Marakeb apart from competitors from the United States, Canada and Germany, is their capacity to create the entire product without depending on external component makers. “We do have a lot of competition, but our competitive advantage is that we build our own technology in-house. We build our own autopilot and our own vessels,” comments El Soussi. For customers already owning their own vessels, Al Makareb offers the chance to equip it with their autopilot system in order to transform it into an unmanned vehicle. “We don’t simply integrate technology, but we also develop technologies,”
he concludes.
