Abu Dhabi Aviation Adds Two AW169 to its Fleet

Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) recently announced that it has taken delivery of two state-of-the-art International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) compliant Leonardo AW169 helicopters further expanding and modernising its fleet.  This is in line with ADA’s strategy to provide best-in-class helicopter services to customers both within the UAE and globally.

The AW169, part of the AW family of helicopters (AW169, AW139, AW189), is the latest generation 4.5 tonne twin engine helicopter designed by Leonardo with industry leading levels of performance, range, and safety to ensure operational readiness in the most challenging environments. The AW family of helicopters adopt the same look and feel in the cockpit and the same maintenance approach that reduces the workload of pilots and technicians increasing safety and reliability while also reducing operational costs.

Chairman of ADA, Nader Ahmed Al Hammadi, said: “Taking delivery of two AW169 helicopters is in line with the Company’s strategy to expand its fleet with modern next generation aircraft in order to meet its customer’s needs.”

ADA has been a centre of excellence for Leonardo products introducing the AW family of helicopters in the UAE in 2005 and forming the only joint venture between Leonardo and a helicopter operator globally (AgustaWestland Aviation Services LLC). The joint venture is the exclusive agent providing parts and maintenance and support services in the UAE with access to over US$200 million of Leonardo spare parts.

ADA, a public joint stock company listed on the Abu Dhabi Exchange, is one of the largest commercial helicopter operators in the Middle East and the first operator in the region that currently owns and operates a fleet of 53 helicopters and seven fixed wing aircraft. The company operates aircraft globally and has been recognised with numerous international awards most recently achieving Stage 3 IS-BAO Accreditation.

Furthermore, ADA provides aviation offshore oil support for Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, VVIP passenger transportation services, Search & Rescue for the UAE, air ambulance and medical evacuation services, aerial construction, seismic support, firefighting and third-party maintenance support.
