Dassault’s ‘FalconWays’ Paves the Path for Greener Travel

Dassault Aviation has introduced a new flight planning tool called FalconWays, which helps Falcon pilots choose the most fuel-efficient route and reduce excess fuel consumption by using real-time global wind data, optimisation algorithms, and performance model data.
FalconWays will be available as a flight app on Dassault’s FalconSphere iPad electronic flightbag, and it is also compatible with Jeppesen and Universal flight planning tools.

This new tool was evaluated over a series of long flights between the U.S. and Europe, as well as across Asia, and in numerous simulations.
During actual flights using FalconWays, crews were able to reduce fuel consumption up to seven per cent.

Real-time Recalculations
The new app empowers pilots to access global wind data, integrate it with imported operational flight plans and in-house performance tools, and perform real-time recalculations of the flight plan.

For Falcons equipped with SATCOM, in-flight database updates are possible during long journeys to enhance trajectory optimisation. Vertical and lateral trajectory adjustments can be executed both pre-flight and during the journey.

“Our new FalconWays flight app is part our company’s broader commitment to sustainable flying” said Chairman and CEO Eric Trappier. “It will help Falcon customers reach a new level of operational efficiency while reducing aviation emission levels.”

The company will first roll out FalconWays on the new Falcon 6X extra wide-body twinjet, set to enter service in the coming weeks. The app will be available on the Falcon 8X early next year and Falcon 2000LXS/S by early 2025.

FalconWays is an exclusive pilot app, developed internally by Dassault’s engineering and flight operations teams. Their work has resulted in seven patents and the development of advanced algorithms to enhance flight efficiency.

Deployed throughout the Falcon fleet, this app promises substantial fuel savings and the reduction of thousands of tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Tested Technologies
Every Falcon incorporates battle-tested technologies, which makes it stand out from the rest in terms of performance and experience.

Falcon 6X
The Falcon 6X’s cabin offers greater freedom of movement, enhanced privacy, increased relaxation, and an expanded area for collaborative work. It can be tailored to suit individual requirements. The combination of flexible working and living space, with ergonomically designed comfort, will help travellers stay refreshed and achieve higher productivity during extended journeys.

The 6X cabin features flowing, uninterrupted lines to enhance the feeling of space and de-clutter the cabin. Thirty extra-large windows and a skylight flood the cabin with natural light, while providing panoramic views.

The 6,450 nm (11,945 km) Falcon 8X provides a combination of efficiency, flexibility, long range and quiet, spacious comfort. It incorporates Dassault’s deep expertise in fighter-derived digital flight controls, extra long-range performance, sound reduction technology and adaptable interior spaces. The Falcon 8X’s extended cabin provides individuals with various customisation options. They can choose between a cozy three-lounge setup with a rear shower or a standard entrance for additional lounge space. For extended journeys, they have the option to opt for a more spacious entrance featuring crew quarters that can be converted into a comfortable resting area, or a grand galley.

Falcon 2000LXS
Close to 600 Falcon 2000 series aircraft are in service today, praised for their robustness and cost-effectiveness. Each iteration has built on the platform’s many strengths. It comes with more range, more payload, superior mission flexibility and lower operating costs. The Falcon 2000LXS features a generously luxurious cabin, providing passengers with superior comfort on flights of any length. Advanced connectivity and intuitive cabin management solutions accessible via popular handheld devices enhance productivity while travelling.
