Diehl Delivers Recertification, Repair Kits for Anti-Ship Missiles

Diehl Defence received an order on July 1, from  the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the delivery of recertification and repair equipment for the heavy anti-ship missile RBS15 Mk3 to the ammunition supply centre North in Laboe, Germany.

Diehl Defence is one of the global technology leaders in the development and production of guided missiles and ammunition for armies, air forces and navies. The company also offers advanced system solutions for ground-based air defence.

The German Navy will now be enabled to carry out repairs and recertifications as well as inspections of the main armament of their new Braunschweig corvettes on its own. This will simplify logic processes and increase the functional capability of the weapon system for operation.

Besides the set-up and putting into operation of respective system in the ammunition depot, the contract covers the training of Bundeswehr personnel on site.
The scope of delivery includes test and inspection equipment, workplace equipment, auxiliary means and operating resources as well as basic service of spare parts for missile repair.

This offer is a further opportunity for Diehl Defence to support the navy in setting up an independent logistic for primary weapon systems.

High Manoeuvrability
With a range of more than 200 kilometres, the guided missile RBS15 Mk3, jointly developed with the Swedish industry partner Saab, not only allows the engagement of sea target at a safe distance but also the precise engagement of land targets.

The all-weather capable fire-and-forget missile disposes of a high manoeuvrability and is particularly ruggedised against electronic countermeasures and is difficult to detect due to its low radar and infrared radiation signature rendering an engagement almost impossible.

The Mk3 version is based on the proven predecessor RBS15 Mk2 in service with the Swedish Navy and other naval forces.
RBS15 Mk3’s state-of-the-art tracking and targeting technology ensures an all-terrain advantage, giving armed forces the ability to coordinate attacks from sea and land.
With advanced decision support and smart autonomous technology, one can be confident of hitting the target from any area.

In early 2017, the two industrial partners decided to continue development of the missile family. In addition to the ship-based version, the new generation is to be made available for fighter aircraft as well.
Besides Germany and Sweden, various other European and non-European countries use the RBS15 weapon system.
