IAI to Supply Drone Guard COMJAM Systems to an Asian Country

Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) ELTA division recently announced that it would supply Drone Guard COMJAM systems to an undisclosed Asian customer.
Several dozen mobile variants of the long-range UAS detection and disruption systems will be supplied. The new delivery will be in addition to the hundreds already delivered worldwide and used in a variety of applications, ranging from critical infrastructure protection to public sporting and political events, such as the G20 Summit.

“IAI’s electronic warfare systems are a force multiplier when dealing with modern airborne threats. They are a key component in operational deployment by armies and security forces worldwide.

Unauthorised border penetration by hostile UAS, or the ability to target manoeuvring forces or crowded areas, could cause significant harm. Our customer’s ability to defend against such threats will be significantly enhanced by the long-range detection and disruption capabilities that Drone Guard COMJAM delivers,” said Adi Dulberg, VP/GM, Intelligence, Communications & EW Division, IAI/ELTA.

Drone Guard COMJAM is a rugged, compact counter drone system, which exploits the drone’s communication data link to detect, classify, track, and defeat the threats. Ideal for facility protection and perimeter security, the system can also be vehicle mounted. It is field proven and successfully protects borders, large events, airports and other facilities throughout the world as an integral part of ELTA’s modular, multi-sensor, multi-layer anti-drone solution called Drone Guard (ELI-4030).

Comprised of two subsystems, Drone Guard COMJAM includes a passive RF Detection element and an active Defeat (Jammer) element. Each subsystem can function independently, with optimal performance achieved when both are operated together as a system.

The Detection unit detects the drone and its Direction of Arrival (DOA) by analysing its communication protocol. When multiple Drone Guard COMJAM systems are deployed on site, the system also provides a geolocation of the drone.

The operator can jam the targeted frequencies with a high spectral purity directional narrow-beam or 360-degree in accordance with the threat scenario. The system can identify, track and defeat multiple drones in parallel. All alerts and actions are displayed via the system’s user friendly C2 station.

Drone Guard employs a multi-sensor multi-layer architecture and is developed for the military and homeland security market. Portable, lightweight and with low power consumption, it is user-friendly and intuitive, making it ideal for a wide range of users.
