IDV to Fortify Romanian Arsenal with 1,107 Trucks Contract
IDV, a company of Iveco Group, has signed a contract to deliver 1,107 military trucks to the Romanian Ministry of National Defence. This is the second tranche of a 2019 frame agreement for the delivery of more than 2,900 High Mobility Trucks.
The first batch of 942 trucks was delivered in 2020 during the pandemic, despite the challenges of global supply chain disruptions.
The second batch order underscores the Romanian Armed Forces’ commitment to the long-term programme initiated in 2019. Through this initiative, IDV solidified its industrial capabilities in Romania as a dependable provider of tactical and logistical vehicles, enhancing the collaboration between the Romanian Ministry of National Defence and IDV.
The comprehensive framework contract encompasses four military logistic platform categories, all derived from IDV’s High Mobility Truck Range: the 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, and 8x8 Prime Mover. These categories can be further delineated into 16 distinct variants, with roughly one-third of them featuring armoured cabins.
Exceptional Mobility
The High Mobility Trucks, in their various configurations, offer exceptional mobility, outstanding fording capability, and secure C-130 air transportability thanks to features such as the Central Tyre Inflation System (CTIS), blackout lights, self-recovery winches, and tactical axles. These qualities make them well-prepared to provide dependable tactical support in diverse military scenarios.
The vehicles offer tactical support to military operations in the most hostile environmental conditions, from -32°C to +49°C. Thanks to its modular design, the High Mobility Product Range can be customised to meet specific user requirements in terms of both cab and driveline.
The entire range of Iveco Defence Vehicles’ High Mobility Trucks is designed to mount protected cabs with add-on armour kits offering both anti-mine and ballistic protection.
The add-on armour kits can be rapidly fitted and removed, making field repairs quick and easy, by simply changing the damaged module.
IDV manufactures specialist logistic, protected, and armoured vehicles and markets as well IVECO’s full commercial range, adapted as necessary to meet the demands of the military user. In consequence, IDV has a full range of vehicles to meet a broad spectrum of defence applications.
