MBDA Fortifies Qatar’s Security Landscape

MBDA solidified its partnership with Qatar by attending the eighth edition of DIMDEX as a Gold Sponsor. The company reaffirmed its focus on high-tech defence solutions by showcasing its advanced missile systems designed for naval, ground, and air platforms.

This participation aligns with MBDA’s commitment to supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 through its advanced technology, ensuring the nation’s security and defence.

The company’s influence in the MENA region remains robust, as it furnishes defence and security forces with cutting-edge missile systems. From outfitting main air platforms like Rafale and Typhoon with weapon packages to providing naval forces with Aster family missiles for naval-based air defence, Exocet MM40 Block 3, Marte MK2/N, and air defence VL MICA missiles, MBDA ensures the region’s armed forces have access to the latest and most advanced technology.

Maritime Vision
MBDA’s attendance at DIMDEX aligned with the exhibition’s key theme of “Igniting the Future of Maritime Security and Beyond.” It provided an opportunity to display the company’s principal solutions and capabilities. MBDA showcased a wide range of its state-of-the-art and next-generation systems to support air, land, and naval defence.

The new Akeron MP and Marte ER were just two out of the most advanced MBDA products showcased at DIMDEX.

The Akeron MP is among MBDA’s most innovative systems. It is the only 5th generation combat proven missile in service that has been operationally tested and proven in a variety of extreme and complex environments, where operators need to be protected during engagements with simplicity of implementation, the capacity to “fire and forget” or engage a target while remaining hidden from sight.

Future-Ready Akeron
The design of the Akeron MP incorporates the necessary growth potential for future modern land combat systems. Serving as a light missile, it offers easy installation on all naval platforms, ensuring high precision against small and fast vessels as well as static or fast-moving land targets across all ranges. Its design guarantees swift and effortless reloading at sea.

The Akeron family features the Akeron LP long-range multi-role guided missile. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies in optronics, warhead, Radio Frequency (RF) data link, guidance, and image processing algorithms, it operates based on Artificial Intelligence principles and data fusion.

Marte ER Defensive Backbone
Marte ER serves as a vital component of Qatar’s Missile Defence Coastal Batteries, alongside Exocet MM40 Block 3. During the Football World Cup in 2022, Qatar relied on this coastal defence system, with MBDA ensuring timely deliveries to enhance operational readiness for the event.

This enabled the Qatar Armed Forces to bolster and complement their air defence capabilities.

Marte ER has been selected to outfit the multi-role NH90 helicopters, particularly the naval NFH variant, for the Qatari Air Force. With its versatility across various platforms, it is an ideal choice for future Fast Attack Craft.

Air Defence Advancements
MBDA’s latest air defence technologies, developed to safeguard ground and naval assets, took centre stage at the event. Boasting an extended target acquisition range and the ability to counter tactical ballistic missiles, this missile ensures an expanded coverage of defended areas.

It is poised to support the new SAMP/T batteries for the Italian and French Armed Forces.

Alongside Aster B1 NT, MBDA presented Mistral 3, offering a comprehensive solution for air defence across all ranges, from short to long range, within the MBDA portfolio.

To secure protection from modern UAV attacks, MBDA is promoting its Sky Warden solution as the most advanced technological answer. The system is able to manage the full C-UAS kill chain from detection to neutralisation.

Designed to operate both as an integrated component in a layered air defence architecture, or in a standalone configuration, Sky Warden is a modular, scalable and evolvable system able to match precise complex operational scenarios.

Meteor and Storm Shadow were products on show for air superiority. The first is a cornerstone of MBDA cooperation, and will keep on evolving next generation air-to-air combat as it is already integrated onto the most modern combat aircraft, including Eurofighter, Rafale and Gripen and is currently undergoing integration onto the F-35 fighter.
