RABDAN 8x8 Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicles
The company Al Jasoor received a contract from a Middle East country for the supply of 8x8 Amphibious Infantry Fighting Vehicles in 2017 after a thorough commercial and technical evaluation.
The formation of Al Jasoor, a joint effort between Tawazun, UAE and Otokar, Turkey was first announced at IDEX 2017. The totally owned UAE registered subsidiaries of the Joint Venture partners are Heavy Vehicle Industries of Tawazun on one side and Otokar Land Systems of Otokar on the other. The primary goal of Al Jasoor is to meet various armoured vehicle requirements of the UAE. Al Jasoor has a strong vision to develop and manufacture different land platforms aimed at the future needs of the country as well as export markets.
The 8x8 programme will also provide the means to create the necessary in-country capability development under the Joint Venture.
As defined by the requirements of the country, the first step of the programme is to design and manufacture the IFV version of the 8x8 armoured vehicle which is named Rabdan IFV.
Production of the vehicles is currently in progress.
The vehicle project has started with the main portion, of IFVs. In order to meet the urgent requirements of the country, the initial batches are already being manufactured and delivered.

First batch of Rabdan vehicles has successfully conducted a series of intensive mobility, swimming and firing acceptance tests. The first batch of deliveries of Rabdan 8x8 vehicles has already started at the end of 2018, ahead of the scheduled deliveries, and entered into service.
After the deliveries of the Infantry Fighting Vehicle variants, the programme will continue with the different variants of Rabdan in parallel with the requirements. Rabdan, whose IP belongs to Al Jasoor, is a multipurpose platform for various missions and provides proven mobility in challenging desert terrain and exceptional amphibious capability at combat weight.
Rabdan has a proven high level of ballistic protection with modular add-on armour system, high mine protection under the wheels and belly; and all around protection against IED at short distance. Rabdan offers the modularity with the payload, internal volume, hp/ton growth potential and open system electronics architecture.
Rabdan 8x8 infantry vehicle will be on display at IDEX at Al Jasoor stand 10-A05.
