Texelis, Yugoimport Mark Milestones in Defence Tech

Mobility solutions provider Texelis and defence company Yugoimport came together at Partner 2023, a prominent defence event in Belgrade, to celebrate their remarkable partnership.

This collaboration has yielded exceptional results within the Milosh and Lazar families of combat vehicles, setting new standards in the field of defence technology.
The partnership is exemplified by the production of several hundred vehicles over the past eight years.

Since 2015, Texelis has played a key role in the development of numerous vehicles by Yugoimport. Initially chosen to supply mobility elements for the Lazar 3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), Texelis was subsequently selected to provide axles for the Milosh 4x4 multipurpose vehicle, recognised for its exceptional balance in terms of mobility, payload, and protection within the 4x4 market.

Building on the success of the Milosh, Yugoimport recently launched the larger Milosh 2, which benefits from the Texelis’ new generation T750 axles and technology for further increased payload, mobility and general transport capability.

During the product development process, Texelis played a vital role by providing Yugoimport with expert advice at the highest level, particularly in the areas of mobility and overall design concepts. As of 2023, Texelis has equipped a substantial quantity of Lazar 3 8x8 IFVs, with an ongoing order for T900 axles.

Export Potential
Texelis has also provided T700 axles for Milosh vehicles. Milosh, Milosh 2 and Lazar 3 have export potential, which could further increase existing fleets in the forthcoming years.

Simultaneously, Texelis has expanded its capabilities to encompass the design of comprehensive mobility solutions, integrated into top-tier systems like the French Army’s Serval 4x4 armoured personnel and systems carrier.

This was realised through a collaborative effort with the French defence company Nexter, a part of KNDS. These all-encompassing mobility solutions are now available for the establishment of new vehicles within the context of strategic partnerships.

Lethal Lazar 3
Lazar 3 is an armoured 8x8 wheeled vehicle designed for various applications and missions. The power train is accommodated in the front right-side of the vehicle in a protected space completely separated from the crew. The central transfer case transmits the torque to all wheels that have independent suspension and provide for the vehicle’s high mobility. All the shafts provide power, while the first two steer the wheels.

It has a highly sophisticated, modular ballistic protection. The hull is made of armoured steel and can be fitted with a spall liner. The applied ballistic protection can be tailored to the specific needs of the user and allows for application of additional state-of-the-art ballistic protection technologies throughout the vehicle service life. The vehicle floor has two levels of anti-mine protection.

Mighty Milosh
The armoured multi-purpose combat vehicle, with 4x4 drive — Milosh belongs to the category of modern armoured vehicles intended for the performance of wide range of missions in the activities of police and armed forces. The main concept of the vehicle is based on a self-supporting hull, modern drive and transmission assemblies and an independent suspension system which ensures high mobility in any terrain and weather conditions with the maximum combat weight exceeding 18 tonnes.

The vehicle can be used for: patrol missions, reconnaissance missions, as a command vehicle, for transportation and support to the units for special operations, in anti-guerrilla, anti-terrorism and anti-tank operations, for the border and territory control, etc.

Modern Milosh 2
The Milosh 2 is a new generation of armoured multi-purpose combat vehicles, designed to meet the needs of modern armies. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and provides excellent protection, mobility, and firepower. It is a valuable asset for any military force that needs a versatile and effective combat vehicle.

Texelis specialises in designing and manufacturing axles, drivelines, and mobility solutions for military vehicles (4x4, 6x6, and 8x8). In 2018, the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) entrusted Texelis and Nexter with the development and implementation of the Light Véhicule Blindé Multi-Rôles (VBMR), a key component of France’s Scorpion programme. Texelis is responsible for delivering the full vehicle driveline integrated with Nexter’s Serval systems, enhancing mobility, protection, and overall operational effectiveness for the French Army.
