Raytheon Emirates to Highlight UAE Success Stories

At the Dubai Airshow, Raytheon Emirates, an RTX business, will showcase the Coyote Block 2 model that represents the company’s ongoing collaboration in co-producing the advanced counter-UAS effector in the UAE.

In an interview, Fahad Al Mheiri, Managing Director of Raytheon Emirates, said: “We will also highlight the High Energy Laser, emphasising our focus on enhancing security and a model of LTAMDS, demonstrating our dedication to providing state-of-the-art air defence solutions.” Excerpts:

Can you provide an overview of the key exhibits and technologies that RTX will showcase at the Dubai Airshow this year?
Our integrated air and missile defence systems will be at the show, including the NASAMS Air Defense Console (ADC), which showcases our global partnership with Kongsberg and highlights our comprehensive approach to safeguarding nations and critical assets.

Connected battlespace solutions, in coordination with Collins Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney, will also demonstrate our dedication to fostering a networked and integrated approach to defence. Collins will have on display as well its new Zero-G HDMS+ helmet for 4th, 5th and 6th generation fighters, in addition to space suite and space exploration capabilities, NP2000 propeller systems to upgrade the C130H fleets in the region, aftermarket and MRO solutions, and on the commercial side, cabin interior seats and their connected ecosystem to enable a more sustainable aviation.

Raytheon Technologies recently rebranded as RTX. Can you provide insight into the reasoning behind this rebranding and what it signifies for Raytheon Emirates, the entity that you lead?
The rebranding to RTX reflects a strategic realignment of our businesses to meet our customer commitments better and emphasise our collective strength. RTX is built upon the foundations of three powerhouse businesses: Raytheon, Collins Aerospace, and Pratt & Whitney.

For Raytheon Emirates, this rebranding reaffirms our commitment to advancing aerospace and defence technologies in the UAE. We will continue to operate under that name. I am very excited that we are already collaborating more closely with our Collins and Pratt & Whitney colleagues here in the UAE to look at ways to create more in-country value in the UAE’s defence and aerospace sector. This rebranding also reinforces our dedication to innovation, collaboration, and delivering cutting-edge solutions to our UAE partners and customers.

What factors make the UAE’s defence ecosystem an ideal environment for UAE-based manufacturing projects?
We know from our nearly 40-year relationship with the UAE that this country has the talent, infrastructure, and government support to make an undertaking like this possible.

The UAE’s defence ecosystem offers a unique blend of strengths that make it an ideal hub for co-production projects like Coyote, for example. The country has been steadily growing its defence industry, fostering a network of highly capable and increasingly sophisticated supply chain partners, which enhances our ability to source critical components locally, reducing dependencies on external sources and promoting self-reliance.

Additionally, the UAE boasts a highly skilled and diverse talent pool, including engineers, technicians, and professionals with extensive experience in the defence and technology sectors. These talents are an asset for developing, manufacturing and maintaining complex defence systems.
