Saab Receives Order for Lightweight Torpedoes from Swedish FMV
Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to deliver Saab Lightweight Torpedoes (SLWT) and torpedo tubes. The order value is approximately SEK 1.3 billion, with the start of deliveries during 2026.
Saab Lightweight Torpedo, named Torped 47 by the Swedish Armed Forces, is Sweden's new light torpedo system aimed at strengthening Sweden’s naval defence capabilities. The torpedo is intended primarily to be used from submarines and surface ships, but it is also prepared for integration on helicopters.
This is the second order from Sweden for the SLWT, with the first deliveries to FMV beginning in 2022. The torpedo has been specially developed for the environment in the Baltic Sea region.
