Beechcraft T-6C Texan II

Go From Pilot-In-Training to Pilot-In-Command

Purpose-built for a wide array of training capabilities to replicate the real flying experience, the Beechcraft T-6C, from Textron Aviation, is a next-generation military trainer designed for all levels of instruction right from ab initio to advanced operational training.

The trainer offers long-term reliability and cost-effective operation and is a total training solution of simulators, computer-based academics, and sustainable logistics. An ideal solution for any air force in the world, T-6C reportedly features an advanced Esterline CMC all-glass cockpit, a SparrowHawk HUD and a Pratt & Whitney PT6A68 turboprop engine. These advanced features allow T-6C to provide unmatched flying experience to the trainees and replicate the experience of flying today’s agile aircraft.

The power management unit and trim aid device incorporated in the trainer reduces student workload caused by propeller torque and airspeed changes. The hands-on throttle and stick (HOTAS) flight controls, combined with above advances gives a feeling of flying a jet to trainers. According to Textron Aviation, T-6C is an affordable solution with low operating cost and best overall value. The advanced aerobatic ability of the trainer encourages simulated combat training tasks that were previously only accomplished in far more expensive jet aircraft. The T-6C can operate around 850 hours a per year with a minimal amount of ground support equipment.

The Total Training System
The T-6C is built for and validated by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy and has proven to be one of the largest, lowest risk and very successful flying training systems globally. It meets SAF requirements cent per cent and offers great potential for tactical training with customisable pilot training courseware, media integrated lectures, and computer-based training management system. Thus enabling the most effective transition to fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft.

In addition to being one of the best training systems, T-6C also promises Textron Aviation’s global support network. Since 1999, Textron Aviation Defense’s proven global Integrated Logistics and Sustainment (ILS) and comprehensive pilot and maintenance Training Systems (TS) have delivered on-site maintenance and training to the worldwide fleet of nearly 1,000 T-6 aircraft. With a global fleet surpassing 3.2 million flight hours across 10 nations, the T-6 ILS has decades of experience minimising component obsolescence, lowering life cycle costs and ensuring high readiness rates.

The T-6C is in operation with the best air forces in the world, and has proven to be an ideal solution delivered by an industry leader that understands SAF’s high expectations, and is supported by a supply chain committed to supporting it throughout the life of the programme.

A Longstanding Legacy and Commitment
Textron Aviation Defense has been engineering and manufacturing training and tactical aircraft for militaries around the world since the of the first Beechcraft military aircraft in 1936. In 1950, the Beechcraft T-34 Mentor series incorporated all of the controls and characteristics of heavier, more advanced combat aircraft, but with minimal operating and maintenance costs. The makers carried over the philosophy of providing advanced combat aircraft at a lower overall cost to the T-6 Texan II series, which was first delivered in 1999 in support of the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS) programme for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army. Worldwide military programmes soon followed including the NATO Flying Training in Canada, Hellenic Air Force of Greece, Mexican Navy and Mexican Air Force, Iraqi Air Force, Royal Moroccan Air Force, Royal New Zealand Air Force, Argentine Air Force and the UK Royal Air Force. It also included the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Programme (ENJJPT) also the Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Programme (ENJJPT). In total, student pilots from more than 42 countries have trained in the T-6.

According to Textron Aviation, it is doubling the size of its European Distribution Center (EUDC) in Düsseldorf later this year. A move that highlights its continued investment in European customer support for its Beechcraft, Cessna and Hawker products. The expansion is expected to increase available part numbers to nearly 35,000 items across Europe, including all six service centre parts rooms.

The company’s strategy for Europe is to deliver unrivalled support for its aircraft with centrally located, company-owned service centres and parts distribution centres, mobile service units and fast AOG response. It has announced a new Aircraft Maintenance Data Hub for owners and operators of Beechcraft, Cessna and Hawker aircraft at the 2019 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE).

Textron Aviation delivers complete support for all Beechcraft, Cessna and Hawker aircraft in Europe at its company-owned service centres in Valencia, Doncaster, Düsseldorf, Paris Le Bourget, Prague and Zurich, and offers line service at Biggin Hill, Bremen, Cannes, Geneva, Nice and Stuttgart. Leading the European market with more than 1,800 jets and turboprop aircraft in the region, the 1Call service now features greater capability during peak hours and multi-lingual support.
