EXPAL Presents Global Mobility Solutions

Madrid-based EXPAL that develops, manufactures, integrates and maintains a wide portfolio of products, systems and services for defence and security sectors, displayed its latest high tech solutions at Indo Defence.
 
EXPAL showcased its latest developments for air, land and sea at the tri-service defence event held during 8-10 November 2018 at Jakarta, Indonesia.
Global mobility solutions for mortar units, electronic fuses and 155mm field artillery ammunition were among this year’s highlights for EXPAL.

Since the opening of EXPAL’s regional office in 2011 to closely support the requirements of the Asian-Pacific armed forces, the company has consolidated its presence as a trusted ally in the area. One of the key solutions marketed by EXPAL in the region is their state-of-the-art proximity fuses. The company has sold over 10,000 proximity fuses in Asia-Pacific area in the last two years.
 
From its Fuses Excellence Centre, a cutting-edge facility located in Europe, the company designs, manufactures and integrates a wide portfolio of fuses for mortar grenades, field and naval artillery, aviation ammunition and rockets. 
 
Among its latest developments, the company presented its range of electronic proximity fuses: a sophisticated solution that integrates time, proximity and impact functioning modes. This safety and reliability system has been proved, even when subjected to the most severe and adverse electromagnetic environments. EXPAL’s fuzes comply with NATO standards and are compatible with the most demanding guided systems and are currently in use in over 35 armed forces all over the world. 
 
EXPAL’s global mobility solutions for mortar units, included the EIMOS 81mm mortar system integrated into a 4x4, the UAV SHEPHERD-MIL, that acts as a forward observer with the shape of a bird, and the ballistic calculator TECHFIRE.
 
Integrated Mortar System EIMOS
EXPAL brought to the SEAP region its integrated mortar system EIMOS, designed to increase accuracy, reliability and survivability of armed forces’ operations in the battlefield. The company showed its latest revision of the EIMOS on board mortar system at the expo.   
 
EXPAL's EIMOS system, which has been in service since 2015, is the natural evolution of the conventional 81/60 mm mortar system. This mobility solution for mortar units integrates an 81 mm mortar (interchangeable with 60 mm) on a high mobility 4x4 vehicle, improving accuracy and reliability.

This solution also integrates EXPAL’s TECHFIRE fire support information system, acting as a ballistic calculator, automatic aiming and firing system, as well as command and control system. All these functionalities let units quickly share targets, fire orders, and impact adjustments among others. SHEPHERD-MIL, a mini UAV, completes EIMOS solution acting as an unmanned forward observer for the on board mortar system and fully integrated into TECHFIRE. 
 
Very quick deployment time (less than 20 seconds), automatic aiming and firing with high accuracy, high effective hydro-pneumatic recoil absorption, fast fire rate, “shoot & scoot” capability and sharing of vital battlefield information, reflects the pursuing of troops survivability for different kind of missions.
