Guardiaris Revolutionises Innovation in Simulation

Working on a request from the Slovenian Army for a helicopter gear testing solution, Guardiaris, with its team of world-class researchers, developed a state-of-the-art MANPADS and aircrew training system − MAAT, which functioned as a breath-taking synthetic environment. Moreover, their expertise and knowledge in the field of defence led the way to the whole array of newly developed simulation trainers, ranging from outdoor to indoor, from small arms to military vehicles. Today, all the trainers are NATO approved, used in 14 countries, and trusted by Slovenian, Austrian and Swiss national armies.

Guardiaris is a highly innovative company specialising in the production of custom-designed training solutions for the defence industry and civil purposes. A dedicated team of in-house experts has been providing customers with patented technology, and tailor-made solutions and hands-on support for over 16 years.

The company has been operating worldwide since 2006 as an Original Equipment Manufacturer. Since then, their products have been deployed across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. Proprietary simulation software registered under the GUARD trademark is continually upgraded, providing one of the most advanced simulation-based solutions on the market. GUARD renders highly realistic terrains and environments, simulates various weather conditions and time-of-day changes, and calculates the exact vehicle dynamics and weapon ballistics in real-time.

One-of-a-kind Solution
Guardiaris’ MAAT trainer is a one-of-a-kind outdoor solution that provides comprehensive simultaneous MANPADS and aircrew training. Easily integrated with other trainers for larger tactical exercises, MAAT is used to train MANPADS gunners, aircrews, MAWS (Missile Approach Warning System) operators and electronic warfare officers simultaneously. Its modular design supports any type of MANPADS launcher and a wide assortment of simulated missiles.

Additionally, MAAT can also be customised to interoperate with any aircraft installed with UV-based MAWS. Designed as exact “digital twins” of real MANPADS, MAAT’s launchers exhibit every physical, mechanical, functional and procedural capability of the real weapon. Soldiers can thus perform authentic operational procedures, which enables them to gain all the necessary experience and skills they need before engaging the enemy in real life.

MAAT enables aircrew to train in responding to missile detection alarms triggered by simulated missile launches. Part of a rapid training cycle when used for individual or simultaneous squad training, MAAT is designed for UV detection on MAWS at up to 5 km distance. For endurance training of aircrews, a tripod-mounted version of the Trainer replaces the common shoulder-launched variant. With the key features being transportability, practicality, and usability in all weather conditions, the MAAT system results in the reduction of training costs and a significant increase in training quality.
