Hensoldt, HTX Team Up to Tackle Urban Drone Threats
In a move to counter the growing threat of readily available drones in urban environments, sensor solution leader Hensoldt has joined forces with Singapore’s Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX).
This strategic collaboration aims to develop next-generation Rapid Deployable Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) specifically tailored for urban settings.
The need for such advanced CUAS solutions has grown significantly due to the escalating threat posed by commercially available drones.
These drones can be easily acquired and operated, making them a potential risk in various urban scenarios, from public events to critical infrastructure.
In this collaboration, Hensoldt Singapore brings to the table its specialised software expertise and system integration skills. Its deep understanding of sensor technologies and software solutions will be crucial in developing effective countermeasures against unauthorised drone activities.
HTX, with its operational insights and experience in urban security, will provide valuable feedback and requirements to ensure that the CUAS solution is practical, efficient, and meets the real-world challenges faced by urban security forces.

The Rapid Deployable CUAS system, a key outcome of this partnership, incorporates Hensoldt’s Z:ASSESS software and state-of-the-art Multi-Sensors Data Fusion (MSDF).
The system is constructed based on an exceptionally modular and scalable concept. It includes Surveillance Radar, Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) cameras, and a Jammer. This design allows for seamless integration of additional sensors, thereby enhancing its capabilities.
This CUAS suite is designed to provide real-time threat detection and mapping, offering users a comprehensive view of identified threats overlaid on chosen zones. The system was showcased for the first time at the HTX Pavilion at Milipol Asia-Pacific–TechX Summit 2024.
Strategic Alliance
The collaboration illustrates the high level of cooperation between Hensoldt Singapore and HTX. “This is only the beginning of such strategic partnerships between the HTX Singapore and Hensoldt Singapore. We look forward to expanding this relationship in the near future,” says Ines Maiwald, Head of Business Development Asia at Hensoldt.
“The collaboration aims to address the challenges presented by urban environments, providing an effective solution for CUAS in Singapore,” remarked Dr. Ben Soon, Senior Principal Engineer from HTX.
Hensoldt Singapore previously showcased its proficiency in drone defence with its CUAS system. Partnering with HTX underscores a mutual dedication to enhancing security protocols and taking proactive steps against emerging threats.
The CUAS system is designed for both permanent installations and temporary safeguarding during significant events, highlighting its versatility and flexibility.
